Alma Geraldine
Dinkins
March 28, 1945 – June 28, 2024
Alma Geraldine Dinkins, 79, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Hospice House of St. Mary's County on Friday, June 28, 2024, after bravely battling cancer.
Born in 1945 in Queen City, Texas, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lois Moore.
In 1965, she married Kenneth Ray Dinkins in Malden, Missouri, and together they raised two children. Geraldine earned her Bachelor of Arts from Pittsburg State University in Kansas and dedicated herself to elementary education, serving her community with passion.
A devout Christian, Geraldine lived her faith as a Preacher's Wife, spreading her love and wisdom across the country. She was also a talented quilter, known for crafting beautiful quilts for her family and charitable causes. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards and bocce ball with friends and family.
Before moving to Southern Maryland in 2022 to be closer to family, Geraldine was active in the Palm Street Church of Christ in Lonoke, Arkansas. In Maryland, she became involved with the St. Mary's County Church of Christ and embraced her new community.
Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Kevin) Parsons of Lexington Park, Maryland; son, Kenneth Ray Dinkins, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; 4 grandchildren: Jeremy (Lindsey) Parsons, Ashley (Jeremy) Duncan, Ryan Parsons, and Sean McCaffery; 3 great-grandchildren: Blakely Duncan, Nathan Parsons, and Levi Duncan; brother, Jesse Moore; brother-in-law, Reed Leon Dinkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Dinkins, her parents, Leonard and Lois Moore, and her brother, Leonard Moore.
The family will receive visitors at Palm Street Church of Christ at 12:00 pm, followed by a Grave Site Service at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, and a Pot Luck at Palm Street Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held in Maryland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's County, Maryland.
