Bobby Joe
Lewis
January 11, 1954 – September 24, 2022
"It's not too difficult to come up with words to describe my dad. He was hard-working,
Strong, Dependable, and fun to be around. He has a Big Heart, a warm hug, and a
ready smile. He cared about Faith, Family and doing what is right and good. What's
hard is measuring the love I feel for you Dad, and how much I appreciate you too. So I
hope it's obvious --- I think the world of you! This says a lot but at the same time doesn't
say enough!!" Love you and appreciate you!!! Your Son, John-----Father's Day 2022.
This journey of life began for Bobby Joe on January 11, 1954, born to John Wesley
Lewis and Mayola Holloman Lewis. He attended school in Carlisle School District,
graduating from high school. He served in the US Army from 1972 to 1974, being
honorably discharged. He worked at Riviana Foods for several years before going to
work for Remington Arms in Lonoke where he attained his Journey Machinist license.
After leaving Remington, he went to work for Phillips Lighting and finally for L'Oreal USA
where he worked for 33 years. He retired March 2020. He took is job assignments with
strong determination and great pride. He also did construction and home project
renovation projects outside of his full time jobs.
He married Judy Anderson on July 8, 1978. When they got married, he told Elder
Charlie Couch, the officiant, that he would be married at least 50 years! They parented
three children: Adrian, Tiffany Ingram (Byron), and John. He enjoyed eleven
grandchildren and 5 great grands (with two more on the way). Bobby Joe and Judy
adopted three of their grandchildren: Kirsten, John III, and Amarria Lewis of the home.
He loved each of them the same.
At an early age, Bobby Joe united with the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He redirected
his life to Christ in 1994 and became a member of Mt. Zion. Under the leadership of
Elder Joe Medlock, he was ordained as a deacon. He faithfully served the Mt. Zion
Church family until his transition, even from his hospital bed. He loved God and his
church family, always doing whatever needed to be done around the church. He served
as Superintendent of the Sunday school, teacher, choir member, van driver, handyman,
lawn mowing, and everything that was needed that he could do. He loved it! If he
couldn't be found at home, he was either at the church or at Lowe's!!!!
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 44 years Judy; two sons: Adrian
Lewis and John Lewis II, and one daughter Tiffany Ingram (Byron). His adopted children
