Obituary

Deacon Hermon Jackson was born December 29, 1935 to the late Mattie
Woodard and Nathan Jackson in the Totten Township now known as
Carlisle. He attended Blakely High School in Carlisle.
On June 1, 1961, he married Marie Jackson and became a member of the
Revelation Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Donne
Lindsey. He was a hard worker who lived to provide for his family. He
worked for many years as a farmer and retired from a lumber company.
Deacon Jackson was also known for working with his hands and was a
skilled licensed carpenter and mechanic. He took pride in his work and was
often called upon for home repairs. Known for his kind spirit, he was well
respected in the Carlisle and surrounding communities.
Deacon Jackson loved his family. He was affectionately known as "Uncle
Big" "Dough Belly" and "Pops" to many of his family members. His
grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him great joy and he loved
making them laugh and being captured in photos and videos with them.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years and eight siblings.
He leaves to forever cherish his memories five sons: Kevin Jones of North
Little Rock, Lavell (Patricia) Jackson of Lonoke, Kenneth (Felecia) Jackson
of South Carolina, Phillip Jackson of Texas, Jeffrey Jackson of Jacksonville,
one daughter: Erin Jackson of Carlisle, three sisters: Carrie Burnett of
Carlisle, Emma Bell of Chicago, Reola Jones of Carlisle; fourteen
grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,
relatives, and friends.
