Obituary

The Very Reverend Genesius Monty Olen Gideon, Priest-in-Residence, at Clement of Alexandria Mission, in Carlisle, Arkansas, and Vicar General for Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Affairs for the Diocese of Texas of the Universal Catholic Church, died Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 63.

Father Gideon was born at St. Vincent Infirmary, Little Rock, Arkansas at 9:34 p.m. on March 23, 1957. He was the son of George O. Gideon Jr., [1918-1985] and Virginia Helen Kingery Gideon [1920-2001]. He attended Kindergarten and elementary school at  Our Lady's school in Little Rock, adjacent to the Governor's Mansion, operated by Sisters who were former teachers of children at the Royal of Bavaria. He graduated from Catholic High School for Boys, Little Rock in 1975.
Monty was assigned by the Diocese of Little Rock, to Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving, Texas, but due to the turbulent upheavals of Vatican II did not make it. He transferred his credits to the University of Arkansas and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. He undertook further studies at the University of Dallas and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.  In 1984, he received a Doctorate in Metaphysical Science from the University of Metaphysics in Los Angeles. In 1959 he received a Master of Divinity Degree from St. Clement's, San Diego.
When Monty left the Seminary in the 1970's, he was thrust into the business world. He founded Monty Gideon International, LTD and Monty Gideon Personal Management. His company managed actors, entertainers and models. During the  late 80's and mid 90's, he maintained offices and residences in nine states, Canada, and Mexico. He gained wide acclaim as one of the world's foremost personal managers.
In Florida, in 1995, he elected to return to the seminary and again pursued studies for the priesthood. He was ordained on September 09, 2000, at the Church of Epiphany in Dallas. He was assigned as Parochial Vicar to the Shrine of Our Lady Star-of-the-Sea, Laguna Beach, Florida. In 2003, he was Appointed Rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Nativity, Guys Mill, Pennslyvannia. In 2015, he was appointed Priest-in-Residence at St. Clement of Alexandria Mission, Carlisle, Arkansas.
Rev. Gideon is survived by his sister, Lydia Shipp of Slocumb, Alabama. He is also survived by his adoptive family, Kat, Skylar, Trinity, Kenner, and Blu Gosney of Carlisle.
