Mrs. Ora Mae Whitehead was a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. Born on October 17, 1931, to the late George and Pernella Johnson, she lived a long and meaningful life that touched generations. From her early years, Ora Mae displayed a quiet resilience, a nurturing spirit, and a heart full of love for her family and community.
She was united in holy matrimony to Brother Jessie Whitehead, Sr., with whom she shared years of companionship, devotion, and faith. Together, they built a family grounded in love, respect, and Christian values. Mrs. Whitehead was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a guiding light to all who knew her.
On December 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., Mrs. Ora Mae Whitehead peacefully answered God's call to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brother Jessie Whitehead, Sr., and other cherished family members who welcomed her home.
Mrs. Whitehead leaves behind a legacy of love and precious memories to be cherished by her family: her daughter, Karen Cooney (Clem Cooney); her sons, Elvin Whitehead (Carol Whitehead) of Carlisle, Arkansas, and Billy Whitehead of Little Rock, Arkansas, one sister Corene Givens. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed by her wisdom, kindness, and gentle spirit.
Those who knew Mrs. Whitehead will remember her for her warm smile, her comforting presence, and her deep faith in God. She was a woman who loved her family fiercely, prayed faithfully, and lived humbly. Her life was a testament to endurance, love, and grace, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
