Sherry Elaine Griffen, of Lonoke, Arkansas, passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on April 22, 1953, in Wilmar, Arkansas, to the late Little Walter Griffen and Mary Hammock.
Sherry was a proud graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where she earned her bachelor's degree in social work. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to helping others, working with organizations including S.C.A.N., Timberlake Ridge Ranch (Adult Facility), B.C.D., The Watershed, Lonoke Community Center, and Hoover House. Her compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment to those in need left an impact on countless lives.
Beyond her professional work, Sherry loved spending time with her family. She was a natural mentor—offering wisdom, encouragement, and guidance to others, whether they sought it or not. Her vibrant personality, warm heart, and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Shaquetta (Timothy) Hunter of Lonoke, Arkansas; grandchildren Nikhi, Timahn, Timmya, and Timothy Hunter Jr., all of Lonoke; brothers Walter Griffen of Seattle, Washington, and Dexter Griffen of Lake Stevens, Washington; sisters Vivian Griffen-Christian of Wilmar, Arkansas, Alma Jean Griffen of Spokane, Washington, and Janice Sue Griffen of Spokane, Washington; and her fiancé, Cecil Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Little Walter Griffen and Mary Hammock; and her sisters Jacqueline Jefferson, Lorraine Jefferson, and LaShay Griffen.
Sherry's life was one of service, love, and generosity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
